Hide DetailThe Tamang Heritage Trail is both a supper introduction to Trekking in Nepal and a cultural adventure amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole country, with rich Tamang culturals similar Tibetan culture amazing natural scenery and awesome mountain vistas. It is one of the most exciting and adventurous trek routes in Nepal. The Trekking is unfortunately an unseen game that not many tourists about this trail. Situated near Mt: Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal is one of the lesser-known mountains. However, the trail to this trek is quite extraordinary to walk with stunning views along the way follows the most beautiful valleys in the world, including Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thumen, Briddim and Nagthi ridges,. As well as rhododendron forest. The Rhododendron flowers blooms in months of Feb, mar, April usually and according to the same, differences can be seen in different places. You can see beautiful view of mountain along red forest filled with rhododendrons at that time.
The Tamang Heritage Trail is developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (TRPAP) under the UNDP fund, Tamang Heritage Trekking is a newly developed trekking destination which was developed to distribute equal tourism opportunities among the poor rural communities living in the Rasuwa region. The region has the feel of little Tibet and trekkers who have gone there claim it is like trekking in Langtang 49 years ago. Since its development, the revenue and other income generated by the tourism activities in this region contributed directly to the local communities supporting the local livelihood, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation.
The trek initially starts from Kathmandu from where a 151km stretch of road leads us to Gatlang by either local bus or private car. We can go directly from Kathmandu to Gatlang by local bus early morning going directly from Kathmandu to Syafrubesi, Thambuche, Goljung Village, and Trekking star from Gatlang, Chilime, Tatopani, Nagthali, Thurman and Briddim whilst ending back in Syabru Bensi.
As you will be here on your holiday, you can extend shorten, or long your trek in the Tamang Heritage Trail itinerary. You can extend shorten or long your trek as you wish. Among others, the opportunity to stay and explore the village of Gatlang remains one of the most fascinating highlights of this trip. With its unusual setting, exotic costumes, Tamang cultural shows, traditional handicraft, religious festivals, and intriguing architecture, Gatlang is sure to leave the visitors mesmerized. The viewpoint at Goljung (Danda) provides the opportunity to gaze beyond the Tibetan frontier with amazing mountain views that include the Sangen Himal, Paldor Peak, Langtang Lirung, and the Lauribinayek range. As we head further we also have the opportunity to relax in a soothing natural hot spring, found in the village of Chilime, we'll take a bath even just for once is believed to cure many skin problems. From here we head to Nagthali Hill (3300m) followed by Thuman where we will explore century old monasteries and traditional houses adorned with rich wood carvings. In Gatlang and Briddim it is possible to stay at people's homes. Travelers stay with the host families, eat traditional food and sleep in their homes. The menu usually consists of rice, Tibetan bread, syakpa (Sherpa stew), potatoes, and Tibetan tea. Visitors can also observe the local rituals and cultural practices with the host family and go on village walks to see the lifestyle and customs of the local residents.
The houses in these two Tibetan-style villages are made of stone and slate roofs. The villages are living museums reflecting the traditional Tamang culture and lifestyle.
Most of our employees have been brought up along the Tamang Heritage Trekking Local Guide and we are proud to say that we try to arrange experts guide from this area. It is important to schedule in a few extra days as flights from and to Lukla can be delayed or canceled, especially during the summer (monsoon) months.

Day 01Day to Day itinerary, Arrive at Tribubhuwan International Airport in KathmanduArrive at Tribubhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel, welcome dinner in the evening dinner is held in the hotel for all clients arriving today. A short brief about your trip. Stay overnight in Kathmandu. Option: Sightseeing in and around Kathmandu Valley kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour to world heritage sites; Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swoyambhunath (known as a monkey temple among westerners).The area has an amazing range of fascinating highlights, whatever your interest. Excellent bookshops, extensive markets, and novelty and handicraft shops contrast with fantastic centers of cultural and spiritual significance - Kathmandu has more World Heritage sites than any other city in the world. Day 02Drive Kathmandu to Gatlang (2300m) – 7- 8 hoursEarly morning we take by bus from Kathmandu to Gatlang. The trail passes through the Trisuli city, Dhunche, Syafrubesi Goljung village to Gatlang. Experience the traditional Tamang culture and lifestyle and have a panoramic view of Mt. Langtang and other mountain peaks. We will stay overnight in Gatlang at the Paldor Peak Guest House run by a local people. Galang village
Day 03Exploration day in Gatlang Nature walk Explore day one more day stay in Gatlang you can experience the following activities) Gatlang – Nature walk - Exploration: We will stay for a day in this typical and beautiful Tamang village exploring many of its attractions: Nature walk to Pervati Kunda followed by a meditation session; visit to the Palden Druk Gatlang Chhoding ChholingbMonastry (an additional 15 minutes walk from the lake), rest for some time and proceed for a Buddhism given enjoye at monastery. visit the local Yak cheese factory Village tour including a visit to the local (community lodge); observe handicraft manufacturing; visit organic vegetable farms; development; visit the local school; interact with the school children, observation of class rooms and teaching followed by volleyball or badminton games with the kids. See the 108 Mani Churten (stupa’s). Experience the traditional Tamang culture and lifestyle and have a panoramic view of Mt. Langtang Lirung, Tibet Range and other mountain peaks. We will stay overnight at the Paldor Peak Guest House run by a local people. We stay one more days in Gatlang you can experience following activities) Option: typical and beautiful Tamang village exploring many of its attractions: Nature walk to Pervati Kunda followed by a meditation session Visit the Palden Druk Galang Chhoding Chhyolihng Monastry (an additional 15 minute’s walk from the lake) rest for sometime and proceed. Day 04Gatlang – Tatopani (2607m) – 5-6 hoursAfter breakfast on the way to Gonggang at Cherka, we will enjoy panoramic views over the Ganesh Himal, Paldor Peak . It is new hot spring near Chilime Village around 20 minutes will reach from the Village you can Bath in Natural hot spring. Then back Chilime will have lunch in the village. The following Gonga village then to Tatopani over night stay in Tatopani at Teahouse. The hot spring was dry by Earthquake in 2015 but in 2020 also Earthquake has bring hot spring again.
Day 05Tatopani – Nagthali, Thuman (2338m) – 5 hoursWe will trek following the Rhododendron forest to Bremdaing, Thuman Nagthali views which has a supper viewpoint and offers spectacular mountain scenery. We will stay overnight with a local family. In Nagthali walk 2 hour to the Taruche viewpoint 3600m from the view point you can see kerung villages (Tibetan villalge), (Tibetan villalge) , Brakhar Gumba (Melarepa's Monastery)and stay the night in Nagthali 3165m from the Tatopani 2 hour you will enjoy panoramic views over the Gosaikunda Range, Langtang Range and Ganesh Himal, Paldor Peak and Tibet Himalayas Range etc... Option: if you prefer stay in Nagthali or continue to 2 hours Thumen? over night stay at Tea house
Day 06Nagthali , Thuman to Lingling ,Briddim ( 2229m) 5 hoursThis is also a short day where we will stop at Thuman. Since Tamang heritage trails are mostly steep and ascends and descends. People from Thuman will entertain you by singing and dancing. If you want then you can also join with them. They will help you feel homely with their friendly environment. Overnight at tea house
Day 07Briddim – Syabru Bensi – 3 hours and same day catch the bus to Kathmandu 6 hoursThen catch the bus same day to Kathmandu 6 hours of travel. if You want can experience the village life of Briddim and enjoy a cultural show performed by community members. You can also experience a home stay and Tamang culture. To mention a little about Briddim, it is a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bottom of the Langtang Himal. Around 2,3 houses are spread in a sherpa Gau. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of wood and stone . As direct descendants of ancient Tibetan immigrants, the culture and tradition of Briddim closely resembles that of Tibetan villages. Same day we take breakfast in Briddim walk 3 hours Syafru Besi and catch the bus to Kathmandu. The bus coming from Gatlang we will catch at syafru Besi to Kathmandu. Stay in Thamel. Last our hang around in Thamel Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 08Final departureFly Back to Home Country.We will drop you at international airport and see you off and wish you for safe journey for back home. And good by And if you are interested in another trekking packages as well, we can organize it for your trip.
