About trip information Kathmandu to Lukla to Kathmandu

Flight Delay in Ramechap and Lukla Airport is situated on a wonderful valley surrounded by high mountains. Due to this reason, landing and taking off from Lukla is considered to be difficult and technical. The weather in the area unpredictable and is likely to change every few hours resulting in flight delays or cancellation. Twin Otter and Dornier planes are the primary mode of transport to and from the airstrip at Lukla. This service is fairly dependable. However, if flights are canceled due to mountain weather conditions, to Lukla or from Lukla to Kathmandu, we will help you charter a helicopter to ensure you are on schedule for your trip and international flight connections. The extra charges incurred are approximately $2,500 to $3,000 USD per helicopter (USD 500 to USD 3,000 per person) would be applicable to you for the helicopter charter. The helicopter takes 4 to 6 passengers at a time and the cost can be shared amongst the passengers. The cost must be paid by the participant, which can later be submitted for reimbursement through a travel insurance company. We can help you with the necessary documents for a claim. Payment for the helicopter must be paid at the time of service by the participant. US dollars cash or credit cards (Visa Cards, Master Cards, American Express) are accepted for helicopter transport. Any card payment requires a 4% bank fee, which goes directly to the bank.

The helicopter can fly if the visibility is 1500m or greater, while the twin otter and Dornier planes can fly if the visibility is 5000m or greater, as per Nepal’s Civil Aviation rules. If the weather is extreme and the visibility is lesser than 1,500m helicopters are also not operated. In such a case, we will reschedule your flight for the next day depending on the availability. If this situation keeps on getting repeated for many days then you would be provided with the alternative trek options.

The helicopter cost is 2750 USD charter flight. It will be approx 550 USD per person which pays us cash.

About trip information Kathmandu to Lukla to Kathmandu

The flights Lukla always were organized from KATHMANDU, but they took this decision due to traffic. The peak times of the Everest trek fall in March, May, September, and October. Hence, the Lukla flight from Kathmandu during those times is instead through Ramechhap.

How to get to Ramechhap from Kathmandu?

The choice of transportation modes between Kathmandu City and Ramechhap district is limited. We will discuss the best ways to get to Ramechhap from Kathmandu.

Private Vehicle

Private Jeep

One option is to use a private jeep or regular bus service if the ground journey is more appealing. Privately owned cars or jeeps guarantee flexibility and comfort, and you are free to choose which type of trip you would like to take. This will cost you around USD 200. Around 4-5 people can be accommodated in a private jeep. You will hop on to the jeep at around 4 in the morning and arrive at the airport at 8 or 9 in the morning.

Flight to Everest trek includes flight from Kathmandu or Ramechap to Lukla. Sometimes the weather of Lukla becomes if there is bad weather, at which time the flight cannot take place. So, in this case, there may be delay or cancelation of the flights. You will have to be prepared for this. You can go another trek like Tamang heritage trail , Langtang Valley or Annapurna trekking. This does not always happen but may sometimes happen depending on the weather condition. The weather of Lukla is unpredictable, that’s why.

We recommend you to have a few more days after the trek in case the flight is delayed or canceled. If you have tight schedule, it will be hard to manage your return flight. So, even the trip days 14 days, we recommend you to have 2 to 3 extra days. If the flight does not happen for 2 to 3 days, then we will divert you to Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Kathmandu to Pokhara flight for your benefit. area near or surrounding a place.
